Skeldon Energy Inc. (SEl) is an independent Power Producer (IPP) connected to the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) electricity grid and located in Skeldon, East Berbice. The company was initially designed to utilizes a dual method of electricity generation; 1. Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) for 10 Mw Diesel Powered Generating Units and 2. Biofuels (Bagasse, Wood Chips, Fiber Husk, Napier Grass) for its 30 Mw steam/thermal energy (Turbine) generation units. As of 2017, SEI’s priority is the continued operation of its three (3) HFO powered generators with a total installed capacity of 10MW dispatched to the Demerara Berbice Interconnected System and feeders to Guysuco Skeldon Estate and the Skeldon Hospital. As an entity operating within the energy services sector, Skeldon Energy Inc. was certified by the Environment Protection Agency for the period October 2022 to September 2027.
